Color?

Considerations are: Change that Green Blue light to Blue. Color Correct knees and calves ( yellow tinge irritates me some ). Burn some color into hair. Not much, just a tad

Black White

I shoved her in the back seat as the Park Ranger drove up…

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 10:49 pm

Was out shooting nudes in a State Park today. Shot there before. Place is pretty dead traffic wise. We had just finished shooting nudes running across the road when we heard a car approaching. Amber was completely nude, so I told her to jump in and lay down in the back seat of my SUV.

The park ranger drove up and pulled over and I was pretending to look at photos on my camera. He said “Is Everything ok Sir?”, with a friendly smile. I nodded and said, this is a beautiful location and grinned. He didn’t notice her shoes laying on the ground in front of me, backed up and drove off.

We left shortly there after. I was paranoid as shit!

Ominous Skies on the Horizon

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 10:58 pm

The ending of the first Terminator was one where Sarah Connor was headed away from a coming storm. That storm was Skynet.

These days, the voters are lead around like sheep by the media. How come no one is talking about Pat Robertson or Chuch Haggie right now… but everyone and their mother knows who Jerimiah Wright is? So fucking transparent people are.

The United States is still quite Racist. Maybe not so much Racist, but more “Steal your Money - ists”. The current threat to the Millitary Industrial Complex is someone who is forward thinking that we don’t need to be spending more on defense than the entire world combined! I mean, yea, hunt Bin Laden and those responsible for 9-11.

Who the fuck in their right mind is a threat to the US. What do we have to offer? What are our assets?

China isn’t going to attack us. We are their largest customer.

North Korea? Who gives a fuck about them. It is time that that region take care of itself.

Russia? They are not a threat.

Seriously, spend the money on knowing who is coming into the country and preventing those people who feel like dealing us pain is the priority. Let people train in Afganistan, or whereever. If we were smart enough if we stopped imposing our beliefs on other people, we would probably have less enemies.

For instance, who fucks with Canada? Really. Who fucks with Canada? No one. Reason why, they don’t bother in other peoples business.

We have the means to destroy any rouge nation flat out. We have had that for years. That doesnt mean we have to activly seek enemies.

There stands a period in time when I think we can set the future on the right track. I think we will miss the opportunity though. There isn’t any money in “Peace”.

Fucked up ain’t it? It really isn’t that complicated. Especially when you have a draft age son.

This weeks Obsession: Tilda Swinton and also….

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 9:35 am

She is simply amazing looking to me. Odd, yet beautiful. I found myself wondering what it would be like to photograph her and how would my work compare to the other great photos I have seen of her. EDIT: If by chance she ever read this, please understand my description of Odd is in no way a bad thing! It is a great thing!

I think it would be amazing. Sure, I am confident of my skill, but with her beauty wow. Isn’t the imagination just great? I just see this big ass print of her - This larger than life beauty shot, really soft and pretty. I can see the lighting.

Sigh……..

On another note: The Roots new album “Rising Down” drops today. I have had “75 Bars ( Black’s reconstruction )” early release on heavy rotation on the Ipod. You know I love a great drummer and ?uestlove is the bomb.

My sketchpad got a few more pages of ideas in it over the past few days. One is called “Signs” and hopefully will turn into  a Beauty Series. More on that later.

I am experimenting with a different sort of format, and delivery of what I say here. Hope it works.

Errrmmmm… This title is better than the last one

It would appear I had more of a buzz than I thought :)

I wanted to talk about inspiration, but got side tracked by lifes BS. Ohh well, it happens.

So back to the matter at hand. A place I frequent on the net has some discussion forums. A newbie photographer asked about inspiration. The answer was easy for me. I mentioned my current project, and the whole Randy Cunningham thing. That inspiration I can safely say, is entirely mine. Problem is 99 percent of people may never quite understand where I was without being told the back story.

That makes it something even more special, least in my eyes.

I spent this eveing removing curtain hangars, spackling holes and painting a door. Me and my wife were killing a bottle of wine. The current song I am listening to is called: “It was all beautiful” by Johh Beltran. Today marks another day in life, another day of frustration, pain, anguish, joy and genine happiness, all melded into the same period. Life.

All of those things are sources of inspiration. My Wife, Music, small things, events, and basically, pieces of life. Drawing into yourself and pulling out moments that mean something.

Showtime 100 Feet Wet

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 1:54 pm

Google Lt. Randy “Duke” Cunningham.

May of 1972 he was the man. I didn’t know of him then, I was only 8 or so, but later, he bacame a hero to me in my daydreaming of flying an F4 Phantom II.

showtime100.jpg

Later in life, you will see shit didn’t go so well. A childhood hero smeared by greed and corruption.

It bothered me alot when this was going down. I wasn’t really shocked, per se’, but I was saddened.

Fucking real heroes last forever, they don’t go to jail.

The reason I am writing this, is for the past 2 years I have wanted to incorporate this experience of mine into some work. I did a fashion story before all about this, but there were some things that weren’t quite right.

Finally, I am satisfied with this concept.

As far as the overall series of composites, I have like 2 more to do I think. It has been an interesting process figuring how to pull it off and have meaning to me.

I think most people may miss what I am saying, but sometimes true art is meant for the person who created it. The ability for  others to have their own intrepretation of it has alot to be said. Some of the pieces are deliberate, while others might be more subtle.

Guess we will see over time.

LA Trip Postponed

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 11:24 pm

Client decided on a last minute change and reschedule for the week of the 11th of May. I was just about ready to start packing my stuff too.

This is what clients do from time to time.

I am likely to kill the blog soon as well. Nerve.com didn’t hire me to be a photoblogger.

Really, don’t feel much like writing more than that. It doesn’t matter really. What I do from this day forward is what matters.

I’ll be out there with a camera in my hand.

Over Logging - Goin’ to Callie - fornia looking for some …….

Filed under: Photographs — Chip Willis @ 10:50 pm

If you are a fan of South Park, I hope you saw the Episode called “Over Logging”.

Sure, it has some scenes that are in the gutter, but dammit, what comedic genius. Or, is it just great satire of our culture? Ahh, the same thing perhaps. Go watch the show here.

The bit:  “It was a Ghost! It’s Ektoplasm!!!!!!” about made me pee on myself I was laughing so hard. Also the  sound effects of the … well.. you gotta watch… lol

stacyl.jpg

I guess this ties in with my own trip to Los Angeles. I should be leaving on Tuesday for a client shoot. Looking forward to it greatly, and hopefully I will have a bit of time to see some friends, and maybe even shoot as well. Should be there til Saturday. Wish me luck!
